Nominator's project description

Professor Otting is internationally recognized for his outstanding research in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of biological macromolecules. He has made numerous fundamental contributions in using NMR as a tool for studying the three-dimensional structure and dynamics of proteins in solution. He is well-known for the development of experiments for characterizing the hydration shell of proteins and nucleic acids. In recent years, he has developed paramagnetic probes, which are now widely used as efficient tools for studying the structures and dynamics of biological macromolecules. During his stay in Germany, he will further develop these methods and discuss their application with colleagues.
